Carlos García Lahoz
Carlos García Lahoz was born in Zaragoza, Spain, on October 22, 1969. From the beginning of his artistic career, he explored the relationship between geometry and philosophy, creating his first series of five sculptures for a management and innovation exhibition. During this exhibition, the City of Zaragoza acquired one of his sculptures for permanent installation in a public square, fulfilling his lifelong dream of seeing his work become part of the city's public landscape.
One of García Lahoz's early paintings is included in the permanent collection of the Volyn National Museum in Lutsk, Ukraine, alongside works by renowned Spanish artists including José de Rivera and Pablo Picasso.
Over the past decade, García Lahoz has devoted himself entirely to his artistic practice, developing an extensive body of work through solo and group exhibitions, public art commissions, community engagement initiatives, and international cultural projects. His sculptures have been exhibited and installed throughout Spain, Ukraine, Georgia, China, and Armenia, where more than twenty of his monumental public sculptures have become permanent landmarks.
Among his most significant projects is a community art initiative carried out within a Spanish correctional institution. Working alongside a group of inmates over a three-month period, García Lahoz designed and created a large steel sculpture that was later installed outside the Courts of Justice in Zaragoza, demonstrating the transformative power of art in rehabilitation and public life.
